YA:Similar but Still Different Stories

Young adult literature (YA), or you can also use the terms like young adult book, young adult fiction, teen fiction, teen novel, etc. It seems that they are somewhat loyal to the same essence of the category. As a teenager, the main character would be, probably struggling with various stuff, when changes take place at certain point of his/her life, psychologically and physically. A tiny event, which may be considered meaningless to people not at their age, might mean the world to them. Thing can be more exaggerated in their world, which has been already changing radically. They would be embraced with unfamiliar great challenges and will step into a new era after they find a break-though.
Here you can see some interesting analogy between a teenager and a werewolf. In addition, just like the werewolf in folklore, changes ahead of young men, in both body and mind, as well as in individual and surroundings, could be vastly different among them. Even if they are forced to tackle similar problems, such like parent’s divorce, unreasonable family expectation, unfriendly schoolmates, or even an extreme fictional life of illusion just like those in The Giver, The Maze Runner or The 5th Wave, each young adult has his own war to fight. Good teenager fictions always come with a bright ending, when main characters sweep aside the dark clouds, to find his own solution, or at least, reveal some fact of the life and the world.
Although not every teenager fiction could be considered“literature”, to some extent, it mirrors what young people are interested in and what does the world around them looks like. If not “literature”, it is still a story told by those who are teenagers or, “retired” teenagers.
Then what kind of teen fiction we recommend now? Here is a list we would like to share with you.
