Fan Fiction: That’s the Way I Love Movies

The rapid growth of internet opens up fantastic space for passionate fans of hit movies, TV dramas, anime/manga and novels to create their own stories based on the original creation and share them with friends with the same taste. Especially when social media dominates the ways that people interact with others, it is highly encouraging when writers can receive comments, likes and shares, which would fuel more creative updates. That is how fan fiction, or, fanfic, develop so fast.

Furthermore, it could be a greenhouse for new era indie original writers. You will not be too surprised when an online novel writer reviewed that he/she used to be an enthusiastic fanfic writer before becoming original authors.

You can classify fan fiction into a separated genre, just like lots of websites of free online novels do. In fact, it covers all other genres at the same time. A fan fiction can be popular romance novel, free science fiction, a fantasy story or a crime thriller. It all depends on how the writer want to develop the plot and deliver his/her thought to the reader, or perhaps, friends. What is more important? It can be totally different with the original, which is exactly the irresistible charm of a fan fiction.

Generally speaking, you can put fan fictions into three categories. Some loyal writers remain committed to original works to the utmost extent, who purely emphasize and strengthen certain details told or untold in the original works. Some writers show a particular preference for slightly different story, in which they can match up different couples or add new story lines or characters for new adventure and romance, while still seeking a harmony of original spirit and new imagination. And, there are some free-style writers who are indulged in creating fictions in an “almost-original” way. I mean, this kind of creation features completely different universe and storyline, bearing only the existed name of characters and their respective settings specified and implied by the original authors. In other words, if you ignore the names of characters, you will find a real novel that you actually had never read before.

Putting aside of controversy in possible infringement on original author’s copyright for the moment, fan fiction is a positive reflection of fans’ love and affection on the original works. That’s the way how fans engage themselves in the dreamy world of the original works, let alone the possible publicity effect.

Fan fiction is an interesting kind of literature, if you don’t might I use the word “literature”. Although it is not too tough for a writing rookie to start writing a novel based on successful titles like Harry Potter, you could always find serious and good plots created by fan fiction writers. Some of them can really considered as high quality literature.

Now, you are ready to click in some site to discover a fan fiction related to some of your favorite titles, aren’t you? If yes, here are some popular and emerging sites for online novels created by fans.

“I want to buy Louis Vuitton’s bag.”
